A judge approved a settlement between LA County prosecutors and SoCalGas to resolve criminal charges stemming from the Aliso Canyon gas leak, rejecting a request by Porter Ranch residents to have the deal tossed so they could seek restitution.

The Porter Ranch gas leak has prompted Los Angeles County to proclaim a state of emergency. The County Supervisor emphasized the necessity of the emergency proclamation due to the growing number of sickened and displaced residents, as well as the ongoing leak.
